MEGHAN MARKLE WORE A THING: ‘TIME’ MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE COVER EDITION

 

Time has released its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world, and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of California – aka the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – are on the cover. by chef José Andrés of World Central Kitchen, highlighting their work at the Archewell Foundation. “In a world where everyone has an opinion about people they don’t know, the Duke and Duchess have compassion for those they don’t know,” he wrote. “They don’t just take drugs. They run towards the struggle.”

Nina Hallworth styled the Duchess for the cover (Serge Normant did the hair, while Linda Hay did the makeup), while the Duke was worn by Clare Hallworth. She was dressed all in white – an unbuttoned shirt with sleeves rolled up, tucked into high-waisted trousers – while Harry wore black; Inside the issue, there’s an additional portrait of the couple, where she’s wearing a pair of trousers and an olive green turtleneck, her hair pulled back in a low bun. According to reporter Omid Scobie, they were photographed by Pari Dukovic in their home in Montecito.

  After a year of primarily virtual debuts, the Fall 2021 Haute Couture shows came back in full force in Paris this week, delivering on a promise of — and desire for — grandeur, excitement and fantasy. The presentations themselves gave us plenty to talk about. There was an impressive Balenciaga debut. There was a rain delay that only heightened the anticipation for a historic Pyer Moss show. There was a meeting of the minds at Jean Paul Gaultier. There were skydivers in Iris van Herpen gowns. And the clothes are clearly resonating: A handful of looks from these just-unveiled couture lines have already walked the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival.

   Milan Fashion Week has drawn to a close and we’ve now turned our attention to Paris for even more Fall 2021 newness. But before we wrap up the season, we want to take the time to appreciate our favorite street-style moments from the past few days in Italy. Kerby Jean-raymond Celebrates Black Inventions In Debut Pyer Moss Couture Collection

     The first Black American to present haute couture as a guest of the Chambre Syndicale paid homage to Black innovation. A rain delay couldn’t put a damper on Kerby Jean-Raymond’s haute couture debut for Pyer Moss, which finally walked on Saturday afternoon. The original time slot assigned by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture might not have worked out (not that the crowd assembled in Irvington, New York on Thursday minded — it was quite the party), but Haute Couture Fashion Week was willing to wait. Same goes for the guests, who came together at Madam C.J. Walker’s Villa Lewaro a second time over the weekend, eager to witness fashion history. With the Wat U Iz show, Jean-Raymond became the first Black American to present a couture collection as a guest of the Chambre Syndicale.
