Hình ảnh
After a year of primarily virtual debuts, the Fall 2021 Haute Couture shows came back in full force in Paris this week, delivering on a promise of — and desire for — grandeur, excitement and fantasy. The presentations themselves gave us plenty to talk about. There was an impressive Balenciaga debut. There was a rain delay that only heightened the anticipation for a historic Pyer Moss show. There was a meeting of the minds at Jean Paul Gaultier. There were skydivers in Iris van Herpen gowns. And the clothes are clearly resonating: A handful of looks from these just-unveiled couture lines have already walked the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival.

For Fall 2021, Stella McCartney is tapping into the prospect of — and hope for — “a new beginning.” In a virtual conference with global press, the designer spoke about beginning to work on this collection amid a tough winter and another wave of lockdowns in the U.K., all of which made her realize: “There was light and there will be light at the end of the tunnel.” That optimism is the driving force behind a really colorful, richly textured Fall 2021 line that makes you want to go out dancing (when it’s safe, of course). The first thing you’ll notice, McCartney noted, is the “really bold, quite rich color” — whereas spring was “gentle, sweet and uplifting in its coloration,” the autumnal color palette represents almost a “fighting spirit.” “It’s a very powerful collection, in that I’ve felt and all of my team and many loved ones wanted to feel like we could truly escape into the world of fashion,” McCartney said.    After skipping the Spring 2021 ready-to-wear season, Oscar de la Renta returned to fashion month on Tuesday with its autumnal line, which takes florals to new extremes. According to a press release, co-creative directors Fernando García and Laura Kim worked with Tricia Paoluccio to reinterpret her pressed flower artwork into a collection of day dresses, separates and gowns using embroidery, crocheting and appliqués on fil coupé, cotton, taffeta and silk faille. The end result is “a tribute to late summer, when sunflowers and wildflowers radiate in glorious full bloom,” the brand notes. Beyond literal prints and embellishments, the floral inspiration of this collection translates to a color palette heavy on purples, pinks, turquoises and saffrons, seen across suiting, monochromatic dresses and eveningwear. There are also delicate bow details spotted throughout, meant to evoke the ribbon used to tie a bouquet of market flowers, the press release explains. (Once again, the bra...
